My research paper will be done in health and
the higher increase of children that are overweight or obesity. The three topics
that I am planning to focus my research on would be overweight/obesity,
nutrition, and physical activities. During these two interviews I have gained
that other professionals also worry about the other diseases that come along with
children that are overweight or obese. Plus my colleagues believed that is a
big problem because the lack of teaching children healthy eating habits information
or resources to pass on to parents. According to my colleagues other related
topics are the lack of exercise, cultural believes food portions, and adults’
role model. These interviews just made me more intrigued to research on how to
advocate for the children rights to live a healthy life by also helping parents
understand the importance of eating and an exercise routine.

ReplyDeleteMaribella,
ReplyDeleteWho did you interview and why? What questions can you ask your colleagues regarding childhood obesity? What other topics are related to childhood obesity?

DeleteHi,
DeleteI have a partnership with Carole Robertson Center for learning, that provides me resources for my Child care at my home and I interview my supervisor of the home program and my host teacher. The questions that I can asks my colleagues could be if they had observed a lot of students that are struggling with weight and health issues related to obesity, and I would asks what they had done to promote more physical activities in/out of the classroom. Topics related to childhood obesity are healthy issues such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, sleeping disorder and much more. In addition, to health there are eating disorders, lack of promote in physical education do to a lot of testing, cultural believes, sedentary life style, nutrition, fast speed of life (where people preferred to by in fast food restaurant) and much more.

ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful topic! I also have learned, and observed, that many children are over weight, and even, obese. I have learned that the children are less active than they used to be. I feel that many children do not eat healthy because their families do not have time to cook healthy meals. The three topics you selected are perfect. Physical fitness may lead to less eating because the children will be busier.
ReplyDeleteIt may be a good idea to encourage healthy diets in your classroom and discuss nutrition. The caregivers must educate parents on nutritious things the children need, and like. Exercise is good for the children all throughout the day, but with no physical movement the children may have a hard time sitting still. I think it is great to be an advocate for healthy children; the children need more advocate for healthy children.
I agree that childhood obesity is on the rise. It does affect children in many ways and continues into adulthood if not treated. We have several children in our school right now that are obese. Our PE dept is helping trying to get the children more active which is hard because it's hard for the children to move around easy. They also have put the children on healthier food. I agree that parents need to be educated in how to help their children. Great topic.
